Ages

Friday 3rd June 2022 Day 13

We are back on foot again hurrah. We will walk 12km today and then get a taxi the rest of the day to make sure my foot is ok. There are lots of people with blisters and leg problems do I feel I really need to get on with it!!

We set of about 630 and the walk was great, not too hot at that time of day and not too many hills. We stopped at Villafranca as planned to wait for Sam and Geoffrey who were planning on doing the same as us.

They turned up (as did Anders who is walking 35km a day and suffering!). Sam couldn't get accommodation in Ages so after a good chat they went off to find the bus to Burgos and we got a taxi. Geoff haa a form of dementia and lives with Sam. He wanted to do the Camino so Sam is doing it with him. My motto for life now is be more like Sam, he is the kindest person you will meet.

Got to Ages where there is another storks nest on the church. It really is a thing around here. Then we met Brendan and PJ from Ireland.

This is PJs fifth Camino and Brendan’s first. They have been friends for 45 years and used to be in a band. Robin and PJ were trying to win the ‘who saw the best bands when they were young’ competition. I think it was a draw!! Paul and Rose turned up, they are in our dormitory. We decide to get up at 530 for an early start, always difficuLT in a dormitory!!
