Dumplings

In our Christmas stockings each family got a dumpling making kit. Tom was really quick off the mark and made theirs on Ne Years Eve - they looked great! So today we decided to give ours a go. As ever some of the things we need are in storage so we have to improvise. Great use by Robin of a beer can as a rolling pin! I got tips from Tom (mostly don't overstuff them which always a problem). They tasted great. It reminded us that we had a great recipe for dumplings when we were in Vancouver - must go and look for it!

I bought Robin the most expensive knife sharpener ever for his birthday (which isn't until the 19th January!) and he started practicing today. He wanted it because he has a selection of Japanese knives and they need to be sharpened differently (apparently!). He says he is not ready to move onto the Japanese knives yet!
