Spent time today discussing employment and jobs at the end of the course. We have an exercise to complete and present by Thursday this week. We also had a talk with the Enterprise team about the support for setting up your own business. Great to see an immediate focus on employability – we haven’t even started the course yet!

As I went back to the cottage I thought I should start working on my plant identification – there is a test on the 18th November so good to get started. Took some photos and then looked at my Collins book – much harder than I thought - it is almost impossible o be sure. I loaded Google Lens – but discovered that is not accurate enough – going to have to do it the hard way.

This is an Ash – about 30 years ago the Chinese and Manchurian ash was introduced to the UK and brought with it Ash dieback. It is a fungus which the European Ash has no resistance to and over the years it kills the tree. It is thought that we will lose 80% of our ash trees and it will cost the Uk £15billion.
