The clock works!

This is is my grandfather's clock. We have had it for many years but most of the time it hasn't worked. We found a great clock repair man a few years ago who took it away and sorted it out. But then it stopped working before lockdown and we didn't get it repaired. He came round tonight and fixed it in a few minutes - a problem that he has only seen once before and shouldn't happen again! I am now in charge of winding it and keeping it going. It chimes on the hour and reminds me of being in my grandparents house when I was young. Its a very reassuring sound - I love it.
They had a lovely bungalow in Yarm and I shared the spare bedroom with my sister Anne. It was a time when nylon sheets were a thing! I do remember them and would not recommend! There was a bookshelf with children's books above each bed - good times!
They lived a long way away and so we saw them once or twice a year. I want to have the opportunity to see my grandchildren more often than that. Zoom is great and we didnt have that then but there is nothing better than spending real time with people. I cant wait to take Libby camping with us in West Wittering!!
