Wardrobes

He has done an amazing job. We are still missing the knob on the wardrobes which makes it a little difficult but overall what a transformation. And somehow they fit so well its difficult to remember what it looked like before. We spent a few hours this morning starting to put everything back in place.
At 1130 we joined a tour of the tower and clock of St Thomas a Becket Church just round the corner from us. Its a very old church built on the marshland in Cliffe in the 12th century and when Robin asked why thee wasnt a graveyard they replied that because of the marsh bodies either sunk or came up - neither of which is good! The clock was amazing dating back to the 17th century and still going strong. Unfortunately once hey had put all 4 bells into the clock tower they realised that is wasnt strong enough to peal them so one bell is struck on the hour. The clock needs to be wound every day so they have a rota of 15 volunteers to do that. She mentioned that for the last 40 years up until November last year Brother George has wound the clock every day, he is the next door neighbour that we have never met - he went into a home in November and is unlikely to come out, leaving the house empty and in need of some renoavtion!
Afterwards we took the train to Eastbourne to the Towner gallery to see the Barbara Hepworth exhibition. It was very good and had more of her works than I expected but Robin wasnt so keen. We visited her gallery in St Ives a few years ago and he really likes her really big sculptures! We took the opportunity to visit their Ravilious exhibition which is always great and cheered Robin up!
