You can tell the campsite is more touristy as we have a lovely coffee from the camp cafe at 730 which is a real treat. Then we set off for Bolton Abbey for a long walk. It is a very hot day so we have plenty of sun tan lotion and water!! The ruins are beautiful and there is no one around at this time of day. We see oyster catchers which I have never seen inland before. We also have the usual big debate - is that a swift or a swallow!! Actually after a bit of research we found out that what we were seeing were sand martins, which was pretty exciting. We walked up the Valley of Desolation (not as bad as it sounds) to see the waterfalls. Overall we walked about 10 miles and when we got back to Bolton Abbey it was PACKED!!! The whole world was there having a picnic in the sun and splashing in the water. Back to the campsite for a pizza from the camp cafe - very nice!!! Tonight we will wear less in bed as it’s getting warmer maybe just two layers instead of three!!!
