Bat Survey

I worked at the Climate Hub and then in the evening went off to do my first bat survey. Not as many stories as the newt survey. We had to climb across three fields to get to a bat box that we needed to retrieve - met these friendly sheep along the way (also goats, more sheep and horses). Then onto the survey itself. I brought a camping chair as what I needed to do was sit still for 2 hours 15 minutes, watch for bats and write down what I saw. I had a bat detector so when it was dark I could still hear them. Lots of pipistrelles and one enormous bat - which was Ok when I could see it but not so much when I couldnt! Overall a new experience and not too bad! I got home about 23:45.
