Friday 10th June 2022 Day 20
Another long Mesata day so we are off at 545 and rewarded with a lovely sunrise. So beautiful it makes the early starts worth it. 27km today the longest so far and mostly next to roads.

Very soon we found this, the sign says they aren’t hobbit homes! They are bodegas, built out of the clay soil to store wine and other stuff.

We could see into some of them and they are much bigger and deeper than you would expect. Then first stop for coffee and breakfast. They also had swallows nesting there which was beautiful.

We left snd after about 1.5km Robin realised that he hadn’t paid do we walked back. They were surprised that he came back but he said he is walking the Camino, what else can he do? They gave him a lovely free sandwich!

Off to Sahagun, the gates here say that we are half way which I think is roughly right! The town was getting ready for a bull fighting festival this weekend, barriers on the streets everywhere! Found a lively place selling cakes so had to have one!

Then the last 10km, that was hard, relentless and my feet hurt! Finally got to the hostel and it is great. We had a choice of a 4 or 18 bed dorm. So we chose 4 which is lovely.

Then I discovered that EasyJet has cancelled our flights from Santiago. So have just applied for a refund and found Ryanair flights a day earlier. Fuming!!
On the plus side no one else turned up in our dormitory so we had it to ourselves, amazing!!
