I saw my first blackcap today and even managed to get a photo! There are 1.2 million breeding pairs in the UK and they are classified as 'of least concern' which goes to show that they are pretty common I just didnt know to look for them before. They like to nest in hedgerows so hoping that there might be a nest nearby.

I spent about 6 hours today on my soil assessment - finding it very difficult - not the research which is interesting and there is a lot of it but classifying the soil samples that I have taken with no experience and only online videos to look at. There are some things where you really need to get in the field with someone who knows what they are doing and just practise and discuss. Tomorrow we are out in the field with Felicity at last - lets see if that helps.
