Buzz, flutter, creep & crawl

The Pocket Sketchbook theme for February is buzz, flutter, creep and crawl. Its a wide brief - insects, butterflies, small mammals, frogs etc. I had decided today that I needed to learn more about using watercolours so I watched a youtube video - actually quite informative, she showed a few different techniques.

One thing I need to learn is patience - wait until one layer is properly dry before starting the next! I planned to just play around today but ended up painting a beetle, then using some of the techniques to do the background.

As a painting I actually like the plain beetle best, quite pleased with that. But practising the background techniques was also good and I learned a lot.
