Carrion de Los Condes

8th June 2022 Day 18

Up early again but we had a kettle in the room so a cup of coffee before we set off. Small things make us so happy! Walked out of town past a campsite with this great sculpture.

Then off on the Mesata, we took the scenic route, slightly longer but it was by a stream and had some shade. Really nice apart from the mosquitoes!! We continue to keep entertained by spotting the birds and plants. Frogs today, no photos as they were so quick! Plus a large fox!

Another hobbit house, we think it was used for storing wine! Then into Villacazar de Sirga at about 9am for breakfast. We ran into Paul and Rose they were so disappointed to see us. Rose said she had fantasised about getting to our final destination for the day before us and sitting there in the town square with a beer as we walked in! This is what we normally do to them! We sat and chatted until 1030 when the church opened.

Then onwards! We met Mellissa, Paul and Rose again!, Sam and Geoff and a Korean guy who we see around and always chat to in supermarkets!

Then dinner! I have spent a lot of today trying to sort out accommodation for the next few days and also from Sarria onwards, it’s taking a long time. I contacted Arun to see how he is doing. He had just got to Santiago and been to mass, he said he was happy and sad. I think that is how I will feel as well. But lots of miles before then!!
