Christmas is coming

Its obviously getting near to Christmas as the estate agent near us in Wokingham had their window decorated. For anyone that doesn't know Wokingham this is a picture of our town hall - and what a great job he has done - looks amazing!

In a few weeks time we are meeting in Brighton for our family Christmas meal (about a month early!) its actually Thanksgiving weekend so we thought we would try out some American food instead of Christmas food. I made a pumpkin pie and some buttermilk biscuits. They turned out pretty good, right consistency etc. But they are just not to our taste. We can't understand the purpose of the biscuits - roast potatoes are so much better for having with gravy. And the pumpkin pie just tasted a bit average. I used Felicity Cloake's recipe so I think the pie itself was good - its just that its not for us! So back to square one - full on British Christmas meal - roll on the pigs in blankets!!
