Wednesday 7th May 2025

The Alburgue has a help yourself breakfast which was a nice change. Then we are on our way, past a beautiful wash house (of course !). We keep noticing the bread slots on peoples houses, we are impressed by them. When we walk into the next town Caldas de Reis we see this house which had been covered with shells on the outside. Very Camino!!

It’s my turn to mimic the statue. Onwards pilgrims!! Then we pass over a beautiful bridge, if you squint really hard you can just see Robin. Out of town past the closed church and we are on our way

It’s a beautiful walk today, but there are lots of pilgrims! We spend a lot of the time trying to work out how to overtake them, or get out of their way. Not much time for self reflection which is a shame. Past other wash house and a closed church!! And I see a turtle in the clouds, which I find exciting but I have to point it out to Robin. Do you see it?

The Guardia civil are out again today, giving out pilgrim stamps, which I think is great. There are lots of large allotment areas that we see as we walk. They are all just starting to plant out for this year. Looks like they will have a good crop here.

This evening we are in a very nice hotel in Pontecesures. The problem we discover when we get there is that Pontecesures is pretty dead. We find a Froiz(of course!), and a pharmacy for some compeed but that’s about it. We have a wonderful view over the river of the aluminium smelting plant, the picture looks much better than real life, it’s really large!! But we find a place for burgers next to the church so it’s not all bad. On reflection though I would have gone on a few more kilometres to Padron rather than stay here. Nice to have our own room and bath room though!!
