We left the campsite about 715. Back to the coast and onto the boardwalks. It’s sunny today and a little windy, good walking weather! We are seeing some other peregrinos along the way, and have a chat with some of them at cafes. We also see some strange sights, like this row of chairs in a very small fishing village. I am much better at using my poles now and I do think they are helping.
The Camino not surprisingly takes you past all the small chapels and churches. We went into one small church where a man was stamping everyone’s pilgrims passport. The chapel was beautiful so we stopped to have a chat with him about it. He was so lively and grateful, I think most people get the stamp and go! This is the church at Vila de scone, and outside was what looked like a celebration of lacemaking! They were faffing around getting everyone in the photo and the elderly lacemaker was really fed up! She just got in with making lace !!
The board walks go over all the sand dunes which they are protecting . The plants and flowers are beautiful. There are also quite a lot of windmills, some made into houses, others just looking pretty! It is beautiful but the last 5km are difficult. The wind has really picked up and it is not pleasant. It’s a hard slog to the Alburgue. We get there 15 minutes before it opens and I was right to book, lots of people being turned away, though she was doing her best to help them. We shared a room with 4 other people. It wasn’t too bad, lots of snoring and farting but what do you expect!! One couple got a mattress on the floor in a cupboard, so we could count ourselves lucky!! About 20km today, so we are doing well!! We found a laundrette, a supermarket, a bar and a restaurant so all good!
