We discovered that the war memorial was just a road behind the flat so went there this morning. The sculpture there is beautiful, it is two trees a British oak and a NZ tree, intertwined, stunning. We couldn’t go up the tower because like a lot of buildings in Wellington it is shut while they strengthen it to withstand earthquakes.

We took the bus to Scorching Bay Beach, by the scenic route around the bay. Glad I am not that bus driver!! It was beautiful when we got there. Not many people and clear water. We saw someone snorkelling and talked to him, he was catching sea urchins to eat!! Looked like hard work for little reward! We had lunch at the only cafe, it was great. Miramar studios is just down the road so apparently you can sometimes spot film stars here!

Later we had a lovely meal out as it is Ella’s last day with us. She is catching the ferry back to Picton tomorrow. The food was amazing.
