On Tuesday in Reading we found a mushroom fairy ring. It was about 10 foot across and very difficult to photograph! You can see part of it here - you can also see the difference in grass colour in the ring compared to outside, it is normally darker within the ring. Calocybe gambosa - Wikipedia it is found in grassland typically near to woodland and is one of the few fruiting fungus at this time of year in the UK. The fairy rings can be several hundred years old which I always find amazing. All foragers are looking for it at the moment - it is the first mushroom of the season and quite tasty apparently. If you are interested in foraging I can highly recommend the facebook group - Uk wild food larder (4) UK Wild food larder | Facebook

Photo tip - If you need a wide shot, use the Panorama setting on your phone - it will allow you to move across the whole area you want to capture. 😀
