Fire pit

Monday 28th December 2020

Last night we lit up the fire pit again - great to sit outside - it was cold but we had a heater and blankets as well!

Today the bird box went up and I also put up two bird feeders. We don't get that many birds in the garden but I am hopeful - I miss the birds in Cirencester lets see what we get here.

Today I started work on the Holt Copse management plan. I spent a lot of time on Digimaps and Magic maps - I really need to get better at using them. But practised today and definitely got better!

What I learnt today - normally you would coppice hazel every 5-7 years however because of the oak canopy cover in Holt Copse we coppice every 15 - 20 years.

Also that my nephew Alex makes amazing gingerbread owls! - I will post a picture tomorrow
