My grandad John Foster was headmaster of Yarm grammar school. They retired to a lovely bungalow just outside Yarm. I remember lovely holidays there when I was young. Playing with children nearby, chasing the sheep, painting the fence! When we were very young we apparently went on holiday with them in their caravan, I have to admit I only remember the caravan permanently parked on their drive, aging every year we went there. The clock we now have in our hall was in their hall. So many lovely memories. I have had our Yarm millennium plate hung on the kitchen wall for years, Robin broke it yesterday!! I stayed calm but am quite upset, I loved that plate. We are trying to find a replacement but as you can imagine not many were made and it’s quite a niche item! will just have to keep looking.
