Our lecture today was on UKHab ukhab – UK Habitat Classification. Its a habitat classification system that is becoming increasingly important as we move towards ELMS Environmental land management schemes: overview - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) over the next few years. Understanding what we have in the UK will help us make sure that we preserve and enhance it. We practiced a bit in the lecture then afterwards I walked over to Cirencester to get my flu jab. I found myself trying to classify everything as I went along!! Our assignment on this is going to be to classify the habitat of the Abbey graveyard and grounds (including the river) so after the jab I walked over there to take a look. I haven't been there enough - I hadn't realised how big the grounds are and how beautiful they are in autumn. Helped by a big sky and amazing cloud formations!!
