Today and tomorrow we are dry stone walling. Its as difficult as you would imagine - there is never the right stone to fit the hole that you have. And if you use a hammer to try and get it to shape it inevitably splits in a random unhelpful way! But you can see how much Zara and I did in about 4 hours - we will finish it tomorrow.

There are about 12 people on the course and someone disturbed a bees nest. As I am on a Wildlife conservation course this was not good! Nigel who is running the course showed me how to create a fake mouse nest in the part of the wall that I was building - basically a nest of moss with a good opening that the bees can get into. Hopefully the bees will come back and find their new home! He also sometimes leaves a flat opening for snakes to use as a refuge.

We were very lucky the sun came out at about 10:20 - just perfect to catch a glimpse of the partial solar eclipse that happened today!
