In the morning we sorted out the front garden (if you can call it that!). We removed all the weeds, repotted all the plant into lovely light green pots and moved the bins. We also dug out the gravel that was covering up the airbrick in the front - we could feel the air flow afterwards so thats a good sign! In the afternoon we went on a guided walk around Lewes with the Friends of Lewes. It was very interesting focusing on the Cliffe area - she described all the wharfs that would have been there, and the various trades - brewers, forges, and shoes (Russell and Bromley started in Lewes!). There was a big family called Morris who seemed to have their fingers in everything in the 19th century including a forge around the corner from where we live. It explains the name Morris Road!
