Sunday 5th June 2022 Day 15

The place we stayed was very nice but so hot!! Not much sleep and then up at 530 to be out of the place before 6. As ever we have to look carefully for the signs in the dark but Burgos has these great pilgrim sculptures along the way so we were ok.

It’s the start of the Mesata today so the walk was fairly flat, 20km and I took the pack part of the way so walking is fine !! We met up with Linda from Southampton and walked most of the way with her.

We talked about all sorts of things. I learnt that there is a cohousing scheme in Bridport. I have always thought they were interesting so looked it up afterwards. She was walking further than us but we exchanged numbers to catch up in Santiago. Paul and Rose came past and had a chat, they are going on so probably the last time we see them which is sad.

The village must have been used in the film The Way as we found this plaque.

The hostel was lovely, we did the usual washing and shopping then went for a walk. Since the first day we have seen a lady, she seems to like to be in her own so we always say hello but today she came over for a drink with us. This is Marionne from Germany. She always wanted to do the Camino and gave this walk to herself as a 60th birthday present!
