Sunday 17th April 2022

Up early (always the way when you are camping/glamping!) and off to Chanctonbury Ring. We went here last year, its an amazing place, a shortish walk but so interesting, we looked up the history again and I relearnt about dew ponds - effectively man made ponds in fields to provide water for grazing animals, there aren't many left that work now. We also found two groups of people who had obviously camped up there overnight - must have been disappointing for them to find that there was another group there!

Then we went to the pub for Sunday lunch - and learnt about the Easter Sunday tradition of taking your horse and cart on a pub crawl in the area. The horses had beer and the people had gin and champagne - there were about 12 carts altogether - a different world!

Back at Knepp we took another look at the storks - you cant actually miss them there are so many of them and they are so big - but wonderful to see every time!
