Mighty oaks from little acorns grow!

Today I joined the Holt Copse volunteer group - planting this time instead of cutting down! We planted 4 English oak (Quercus robur) trees in the wood - they are about 3 foot tall - we planted them where other trees had come down leaving a gap in the canopy - which hopefully will give them a good chance of survival. Some others in the group planted 3 much larger red oaks (Quercus rubra) to replace ones that had gone in the avenue in Joel Park. The group has a camera trap - they used it to catch some vandals! maybe we can put it out and see whats about - they say that deer do come though the wood - but I couldnt see any evidence.

We got the results of our first piece of work - I got 85 - really pleased with that - now I can turn it into an essay!
