Mop Fair

One of our assignments is a National Vegetation Classification of woodland and grassland. We collected the grassland data today. Five 2meter square patches of grassland - and we had to identify everything in them and what percentage coverage they had. October is not the time of year to be doing this - its really difficult!! 4 hours later and we had as much as we could get - lets see what we can do with it!

The Mop fair on Cirencester is on at the moment so I went down to have a look. The fair dates back to the middle ages and was effectively a hiring fair. Labourers would turn up with a tool of their trade and employers would hire them (for the next year). The labourer then put on a bright ribbon and joined hte party! Nowadays its a big fun fair that closes the whole of the centre of Cirencester. It was lovely weather so lots of people turned up to have a go!
