We had a wonderful walk to the Needles today. It is a great bird watching area and the walk took a few hours as we kept stopping to identify birds! We saw skylarks, meadow pipit, rock pipit and stonechats plus the usual goldfinches, robins etc. I was so excited to see and hear the skylarks - amazing.
When we got to the Needles Robin was disappointed! He said he was expecting something bigger! They are not very needley!
Afterwards we went to get some fresh fish for dinner - harder than you would imagine given that it is an island. In the end we got some scallops which were not locally fished - but were very delicious! Strange that there isnt more local fish available.
Last night here and the green woodpecker came back out to see me in the late afternoon - overall a great holiday - we will be back!
