Monday 20th June 2022 Day 30
Today we have only 12km to go but it’s the steepest climb we will do. So we set off with some trepidation.

The views were great, really lovely cool weather and greenery all around us. We met some cows along the way!

And we passed into Galicia

And then we were there! It was hard work and without the last few weeks of walking I don’t think we could have done it so fast. We saw quite a few people struggling on the way up but they all made it. O Cebreiro is a small mountain village which has turned into a tourist trap so I couldn’t find anywhere to book. We went over to the municipal Albergue to wait for them to open. The unspoken rule is that you put your backpack in a line next to the door to mark your place

We were first so those are ours at the front. The problem was we were three hours early and it was very cold. That is Ines wearing her sleeping bag in the queue to keep warm! Normally Alburgue’s are in town and you sit in a nearby coffee shop and watch your bag in the warm. No luck this was out of town so we froze for three hours but we got good beds!

50 to a dorm you can’t see the rows either side of this picture! We were so cold that we skipped all niceties like a shower or change. Put on our warm clothes and headed out for some hot food!

The view from the top was fantastic and we found a nice quiet bar so it wasn’t that bad. O Cebreiro is known for its old roundhouses and there is a museum of four houses there. It is Monday and the museum is shut.

They looked great but it would have been good to know more about them. Off to bed to see if we can get any sleep!
