The sun is out so off to the beach at Wells in the morning. It’s about an hour after high tide so you can see how far the water might go out later in the day. A siren sounds when the tide turns to warn people of getting trapped!
Strangely there is a pilgrimage site close by in Walsingham so today is the day to go and take a look. It’s quite a strange place, obviously lots of money brought by the pilgrims as the village is beautifully kept and the site itself is amazing. Our lady is in a small chapel inside a church which was built for it. It has a long history from the 12th century but the church here now is actually from early 20th century.
There is no shortage of other churches in Walsingham including this Russian Orthodox Church converted from the old railway station! Robin is not sure about the place at all! It does have a lot of pilgrim stuff. Religious tat shops and a pilgrim place to stay. It’s just all a bit odd.
We do see some lovely flowers as we walk around. Love the peony.
In the evening we go to the Wells Crab House for dinner. It’s the best restaurant in Wells. We share a lobster platter which is amazing, I eat almost everything on the platter apart from the roll mops. Not really a fan of those!! On the walk home there is a beautiful sunset. Lovely day!
