Pan traps

I went over to the farm after work to set the first set of pan traps. I put out three traps in each field (unimproved grassland, semiimproved grassland, arable reversion and arable). It is just a white tray with some water in it and a tiny bit of washing up liquid. Insects are attracted to the white tray and then fall in the water and die - bit gruesome really. I will leave them out for 24hours and then come back and collect the insects. I took GPS coordinated of every trap so that I can find them again tomorrow! And so that I can create a map for my dissertation. It took about an hour to set them out which isnt too bad. I am interested to see what results I will get!
