Sunday 11th April 2021

Today was my first day of being a volunteer ranger for the RSPB. Robin came with me and we went over to Farnham. This is heathland with ground nesting birds and there are certain areas that dogs need to be on a lead between February and end of August. This is the first sight we saw - someone has come along and taken out (cut out!) the dog walking information - making it very difficult for me to tell people to put their dogs on a lead. Almost every gate was the same - some were just turned around so we put them back but most of them were gone. I find it very hard to understand - there are lots of areas where dogs can walk off the lead - why do people feel that they are so entitled? I was told it happens all the time. Robin said we should set up a camera trap and catch the culprits! On a more positive note we saw three roe deer.
