I went over to Stanmer Park today to volunteer at a permaculture site. Stanmer Park also had the Onegarden which is a beautiful walled garden with cafe that has been restored by the students at Plumpton College. Here I found my first Shaun the Sheep - there is a trail around Brighton of them - we really need to go and find more! The off to the volunteering - they have a very big site here which seems to be divided up among several charitable groups. The place that I was going to was right in the middle - there are some other good groups here as well. There were about 10 people altogether - mostly retired. The first thing we did was light the fire to get the water ready for a cup of tea. Then I spent most of my time cutting down bindweed. hey are a really nice bunch of people but I am not sure whether I will go again. I will think about it. In the car park I spotted a familiar sillouette walking into the Onegarden - Laura and the girls! So lovely to see them.
I got home and our new lightshade was up in the bedroom - it looks great I love it. In the evening we went to the launch of a new company based in Lewes that will help people do a home energy retrofit on their houses. Not for us though, they are targeting the newer estates around Lewes. But quite a few of our neighbours went, we got to chat to some interesting people and there was free food and drink - so not a bad night!!
