Today Ros, Rowan and I went over to Bruern to walk the Bluebell and Bunds walk that will be a public walk next week. It is about 4 miles through Foxholes Nature Reserve - known as being one of the best places in Oxfordshire to see bluebells at this time of year. But we were looking for the Natural Flood Management scheme which has been put in place - we found it eventually! There were two sets of retention ponds - both with about 5 ponds running into each other - these slow and filter flood water coming off the arable land nearby and help stop flooding for some of the houses further downhill. They looked beautiful and even more excitingly we found a frog! I looked it up and it was a common frog - apparently they come in a variety of colours - this one was really golden - amazing find! We finished at the Bruern Farm shop and bought too much! We all agreed this was the best days work that we can remember (helped by really good weather of course!).
