Coffee again from the shop! Then we went into Skipton. It’s a lovely small town with a castle, big market and a canal running through it. We went in the canal trip which was good but no locks! Again we discussed-is it a swallow or house marten? Then we took a look around the castle. It was really interesting, small but heavily fortified, they held out for three years in a siege during the civil war! We had lunch then went back to the camp site. On the way back we drove past Beamsley Hospital - the round house - where we had a wonderful holiday in 1997. Its a landmark trust property which has a chapel in the middle of it. I remember mum not being too happy about that! When we got back everyone else had left, the campsite was empty!! Later we decided to take a risk and walk to the pub. There was supposed to be a storm coming but we couldn’t see any sign. Of course by the time we got to the pub the clouds were gathering and we could hear thunder, so it was a quick drink then we legged it back to the campsite. The storm came very close but luckily didn’t hit us, looking at the flash flood pictures from Manchester which isn’t far away we were very lucky!
