South Downs

My first time volunteering for the South Downs National Park. I arrived at Stanmer Park at 9am and met up with the rangers and other volunteers. Unfortunately there were some major traffic problems so we didnt get off until 10. We loaded up the Landrover and went off to Mill Hill (No I hadnt heard of it either - its on the way to Worthing). There we cleared a path which is between two SSSIs - some of it has the potential to be good chalk grassland - the rest of the clearing was just for access to the bridleway. It was hard work but I really enjoyed it - great people - doing something useful - I will sign up for more work! But I will definitely ache tommorow!
