Bonus post for today! We have had many arguments over the years as to whether a bird is a swift or a swallow. Recently we have seen swifts flying over the house (and as you know we saw swallows in the Isle of Wight) so I looked up identification (just to be sure!). I found this which I found really useful. It is on the Thames Basin Heaths website which has more information on identification Birding beginnings: Swift, swallow or martin? - Thames Basin Heaths (tbhpartnership.org.uk). But just seeing these pictures makes it so much easier - and less arguing!!
