The duck and the dog

When we were in South Island if you remember we stayed the night in the dog park car park in the rain. As we cooked dinner under the shelter a truck pulled up and a lady got out and let her dog into the park. Some minutes later we saw her going all around the edges of the car park looking under the bushes. We decided that she was looking for a drug drop. But she didn’t seem the type. With that we also heard a duck over by the park. Chris and Ella walked over to find out what was going on. And the lady told them the story….

She had three young ducklings and when they were very young the duck (Goldie) was stepped on and hurt its back so it couldn’t walk. So the lady looked after the duck and it imprinted on her. Now the duck is grown up and well, living happily with them. The lady takes it to the dog park and the dog and the duck happily run around outside. She looks for snails under the bushes as they are Goldie’s favourites. She really loves the duck!!
