The Woodland Trust published the first State of the UK's Woods and Trees 2021 report State of the UK's Woods and Trees - Woodland Trust. As can be expected it doesn't make for good reading. Woodland cover is increasing slightly but woodland wildlife is decreasing. A mixture of climate change, types of woodland, invasive species, diseases, deer, pollution and buildings. We don't seem to understand that taking down one ancient oak for roads or houses and replacing it with a sapling does not work. The sort of tree, where it is and what age it is are all vitally important - not just the absolute number of trees.
On a more positive note I continues with my watercolours today - learning more every time I give it a go. I drew and painted a leaf many times today in different ways - this is my favourite. Next step is to go outside and paint rather than paint in my office.
