Tuesday 21st June 2022 Day 31

My bunk wax next to the one radiator that heated a 50 bed dorm, it was too hot! As ever people get up early so we set off at 540. What goes up must come down! 21km today but we are losing all the height we made yesterday. Most injuries happen in the way down so time to take it slowly and carefully.

We passed through a small village every few km snd each one had their own tiny chapel. They were busy farming villages do we met more cows on our path! We stood very still

and let them pass, they had big pointy horns!

At our first break we almost lost our trusty Robert Dyas bag! The owner had a lovely puppy and he stole it from Robin’s backpack. After a small game of chase the puppy I managed to snatch it back with only one puncture to it!

At the next break stop they had done of the lively local cheese that you eat with honey. I had a big portion which kept me going for most of the rest of the journey!

Then we started the descent, pretty tough but the surface wasn’t too bad so it didn’t feel dangerous. We came across one of these grain stores which I remember from my Camino walk with mum. They are a big feature in Galicia

At last we reached Triacastela at about 1120, not bad. Apparently there were three castles here hence the name but none of them remain. You can see the castle design on the church and around the village.

We met Marianne later on and had a chat but Robin was really asleep. Apparently the snoring was something to believe last night. I have earplugs and can recommend them!
