Turnip cake is one of my favourite dim sum dishes - don't see it so much in the UK but I always have it, if it is on the menu. We went to Tesco's in Reading the other day - lo and behold they were selling mooli (the radish needed for turnip cake), so we had to buy one of course. It took a few days to assemble the other ingredients but at last I had everything and made it today. I used the recipe from Dim Sum Small bites made easy by Helen and Lisa Tse. Easy to make - you grate the radish, mix all the ingredients together and then steam for 40 minutes. I have to admit when it comes out of the steamer it doesn't look that appetising - a bit white and rubbery! But cut into slices and then fried - amazing, what a treat! I ate most of it before Robin got home!
I might get some for breakfast this morning😋
