Van life!

We are off! First stay is Kaiteriteri, the entrance to the Abel Tasman national park. It is packed!! It’s our first chance to go through the van and work out what we have, everything looks ok if very mismatched! We spent the afternoon at the beach, the water is chilly but fine when you get in! And do clear! There are small mussels growing everywhere on the rocks making great patterns. We made good use of the bird book we bought and Ella’s local knowledge! The birds are unafraid, on the beach there are oystercatchers that just walk up to you. It’s quite astonishing!! Robin stuck to the shade but the rest of us were in the sun and water And had a lovely time. By evening all the day trippers are gone and the beach is nearly empty. Chris and Ella cooked dinner this evening, the facilities here are great, everything that you need. We are very tired and jet lagged so let’s see you the bed in the van works out!!
