Vienna

Monday 19th December 2022

Our flight was at 0710 so the taxi came at 5am - didn't get much sleep as I always worry about waking up in time! I still have a BA silver card (from my Teradata days , it expires in June so this may be the last time I get to use it!) so we had fast track and straight into the lounge for free coffee and breakfast! When we got to Vienna the first thing we did was go to a Christmas market! The way it works is you buy the mulled wine and leave a deposit for a cup (then if you want to keep the cup you can). Charlotte warned me about the perils of this (a kitchen full of unwanted cups!) but I couldnt resist the red heartshaped one - that is coming home with me! Then we went to the Palmenhaus for lunch - it was beautiful and the food was good. We decided to eat as much Viennese food as possible to I had schnitzel! Off to the Airbnb apartment which was amazing right in the centre of town next to the Spanish Riding School! We went out again in the evening and due to a misunderstanding I had schnitzel again! Thats the last time! Charlotte is pescatarian which is not so easy in Vienna - being vegan woudl be really difficult - not many vegetables to be found.
