After the long climb yesterday we decided to do the same but on the other side of Wellington! After much complaining we made it to the top and the wonderful botanical gardens. We looked around for a couple of hours, so much to see. The middle picture is a section of a tree fern, which was very unexpected and beautiful! We took the cable car back down the hill into the centre of the city ( probably should have done it the other way round!).
I had a great Malaysian lunch of roti with chicken curry, then took a look at the shops. We had to go into the Lego shop of course and take a look at all the kit. We saw a kingfisher at the gardens this morning and loved the model in Lego. It’s all very expensive! The museum was the next stop, it’s enormous so we concentrated on the history of people coming to New Zealand. Very interesting particularly as it is Waitangi day today, the celebration of the treaty signed with the British. Not everyone thinks it’s a celebration and they are probably correct. As it is a public holiday Wellington was busy. Chris led us to a good bar on the way home that had a little park outside and music. Lots of dancing in the sun, lovely afternoon.
