Water everywhere!

I have been looking everywhere for a photo of my great grandfather to send to the Whitby Lifeboat Museum and at last I found it. Tidying up today and found a large white envelope with pictures and postcards in it. So here he is John William Foster (in about 1907 or 1908 as JLF is my grandfather and he was born in 1904). The postcards were also interesting. Here is one of the actual lifeboat in 1938 not long after she was commissioned. Lifeboatmen are amazingly brave people! Back to Lewes and today we got our first flood alert! I now know a lot more about the system - alert means there might be flooding, dont panic but make sure you have a plan. Flood warning means start enacting your flood plan - move the car, move furniture etc. Severe flood warning mean switch of the electricity and gas and get out of there! Its a full moon at the moment, plus all the rain means that the river is bery high at high tide - but all OK today!
